These raids revealed that multiple jewellery units were employing children below the age of 18, in violation of the Child and Adolescent Labour Prohibition and Regulation Act.
All the rescued children were identified as being from West Bengal and were subsequently taken to a child welfare home in Kasimedu. Legal cases have been lodged against the owners of four jewellery units.
