GIA India recently celebrated the graduation of students from its Graduate Diamonds Diploma Program at its Mumbai campus in a ceremony attended by Devansh Rajesh Shah, Partner at Venus Jewel, who served as the chief guest.

    Address by Industry Leaders

The event began with an interactive session led by Shah, focusing on “Opportunities in the Natural Diamond Industry.” Shah emphasized the critical role of education in the gem and jewellery sector, stating, “We deal with natural diamonds – a product that’s high-value – and customers rely on us to provide them with accurate knowledge. Education from institutes like GIA is important to build trust and confidence among consumers about this industry.”

Apoorva Deshingkar, Senior Director of Education and Market Development at GIA India, congratulated the graduates on their achievement. She remarked, “The gem and jewellery sector is a highly skill-based field, and our programs provide time-tested skills and the knowledge to ensure our students are industry-ready.” Deshingkar also expressed gratitude to Shah for his support and insights shared with the students.

    Graduate Testimonials

Several graduates shared their experiences and the impact of the GIA program on their careers. Aadit Parekh, a new entrant to the diamond business, reflected, “I learned about GIA through friends in the industry. As I’m starting my business in diamonds, the knowledge I gained from the program will prove extremely beneficial.”

Pratham Verma, another graduate, highlighted the program’s broader impact, noting, “In addition to teaching me all about diamonds, GIA has also instilled in me the importance of punctuality. I will carry these learnings with me throughout my life.”

Muskan Narula, who transitioned to the gem and jewellery industry out of personal interest, shared her journey: “I’m not from the gem and jewellery industry, but it has always fascinated me. While researching educational programs, my friends highly recommended GIA. I have now completed two programs with GIA: my first one was the Comprehensive CAD/CAM for Jewelry Program, and now I have completed my GIA Graduate Diamonds Program. Both these courses were amazing and acquiring these credentials has greatly boosted my confidence.”

    Implications for the Industry

The graduation ceremony underscored GIA India’s commitment to developing skilled professionals in the gem and jewellery industry. The emphasis on practical knowledge and industry readiness prepares graduates to meet the high standards and expectations of the market. The testimonials from graduates highlight the diverse applications of the skills acquired, from technical expertise in diamond grading to broader professional attributes like punctuality and confidence.
