The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) Gujarat Regional Office recently organised the first ever seminar on ‘Artificial Intelligence in the Jewellery Industry’, focusing on how the technology is poised to transform jewellery design and retail.
Opening Remarks and Overview
Mr. Vijay Mangukiya, Regional Chairman of GJEPC Gujarat, commenced the seminar by welcoming the attendees and providing an overview of GJEPC’s activities and the export process. His introduction provided a foundation for exploring AI’s potential impact on the jewellery sector.
AI in Jewellery Design
The seminar’s first major presentation was delivered by AI expert Mr. Hardik Prajapati. He explained how artificial intelligence can change jewellery design, demonstrating live how AI can be used to create innovative and unique designs. “Artificial intelligence can revolutionise jewellery design,” said Prajapati, emphasising the transformative potential of AI in the creative process.
Augmented Reality in Retail
Following Prajapati’s presentation, Mr. Aagam Shah, an expert in AI Augmented Reality, introduced the concept of a virtual marketplace. He demonstrated how virtual shopping experiences can closely mimic reality, showcasing a live AR demo that showed how customers can explore and purchase jewellery in an interactive virtual environment. Shah illustrated that “virtual shopping can closely mimic reality,” pointing to the future of immersive retail experiences.
Promoting Industry Events
The seminar concluded with a presentation by Mr. Malcom Sarkari, Assistant Manager of National Events at GJEPC. He spoke about the upcoming IIJS Premiere, urging Vadodara retailers to attend and explore new business opportunities. Sarkari’s presentation highlighted the importance of industry events in making connections and staying updated with the latest trends and innovations. He encouraged retailers, saying, “Retailers of Vadodara should attend IIJS and explore opportunities.”
